Winterborne Stickland Sports & Community Club WSSCC
The keys to the sports club were handed back to the Parish Council recently and a new committee has been setup to refurbish the Club House and invite sports clubs and the community to use the facilities. A grant of £6000 was awarded to WSSCC against a proposal of activities to enhance those facilities and work has begun to that effect.
The Club House has been cleared out of all the unusable items along with the storage containers, caravan and cellar. There have been 3 skips filled and a large metal recycling skip together with a lot of materials burnt. New plasterboard has been fitted to the walls, the corridor painted and the floor tiles removed along with the roof repairs.
We are looking into securing the Club House with advice from the Police and Fire services, put down some new carpet, freshening up the bar area and outside space together with considering curtains and furniture.
WSSCC is inviting local sports clubs to use the football pitch, cricket pitch, tennis courts, skittle alley, darts board and pool table along with community clubs and social events. We are also looking at setting up the site for the Caravan and Camping Club and will be inviting back the Bikers group in May.
We will be inviting the community to become members of WSSCC in the near future via our Website  and Facebook page WSSCC but in the meantime we have a competition to design a new logo for the club. There is a category for the under 16’s and over 16’s and entries should be sent in via the Facebook page which is now up and running or the email address which is wssccemail@gmail.com. The prize for the best logo in each category will be one year’s free membership for you and your family along with a special donated prize. Please make logos no bigger than A4.
If you would like to be involved with any of the activities to help get the club up and running or be interested in using the facilities for your sport or social event please get in touch via the Facebook page or email.
This is a great chance to support your own community asset and we look forward to seeing you at the Club House in near the future.
